Name: Tractor-unknown

2000-05-24 Soil Preparation Soil finished the 2,4-D and Entomology studies. Not sure what equipment was used. Not sure if we used the 12' Glencoe Field cultivator or the 15' soil finisher that belongs to the KBS Dairy. Depending on which field tool we used would have made a difference in what tractor was used. Because the notes stated that the plots were soil finished it makes me think that the Dairy's soil finisher was used.

2006-06-12 Mechanical Weed Control Rotary hoed T3 and T4 plots, all reps. Not sure what tractor or rotary hoed we used. I would guess that we used the caseIH rotary hoe and either the JD 6400 tractor or the JD 6420 tractor. Rotary hoed T3 plots first, after rotary hoeing T3 plots we cleaned the rotary hoe before rotary hoeing T4 plots.

2006-07-14 Harvest Mowed the alfalfa in T6 plots. July 17, 2006 the alfalfa in T6 plots were raked, baled and removed from the field.

2007-05-24 Mechanical Weed Control Rotary hoed all corn and soybeans in the biodiversity study.

2007-07-03 Planting Seeded crimson clover into the biodiversity B3 treatment. 15 lbs/A of crimson clover. JD5410 tractor going 4.0 mph (C1 1300 rpm's) (my notes said we used the JD 5410 tractor so was this the JD 5420 tractor or the JD 5400 tractor, not sure which tractor we used.) Gandy motor setting 1.6, gates were all the way open.

2007-07-20 Harvest Baled T6, all reps. Baled into small square bales. I think Jim S. used the JD 2155 tractor and NH 1469 baler to bale the plots today. Jim B. picked up all the square bales from the plots today.

2007-08-31 Harvest Raked T6 plots again today, yes we raked on August 30 and 31, 2007. Raked T6 plots, all reps, reps: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. On August 31, 2007 we doubled all the windrows up again (two windrow into one bigger windrow). So over the last two days we put four windrows into one windrow. Mick baled T6, all reps, reps: 5, 4, 3, 6, 1, and 2. Baled into small square bales. Jim B. picked up all the bales from T6 plots, all reps.

2001-04-19 Soil Preparation Chisel Plowed the area for the Nitrogen Rate Study. I am sure I used the Glencoe chisel plow from the Dairy (this was the only chisel plow around KBS in the spring of 2001). I would have used the FSC JD 7600 tractor or the JD 7810 tractor from the Dairy.

2001-04-26 Soil Preparation Chisel Plowed the micro-plots in treatment 7, all replications, reps: 5, 3, 1, 4, 2, and 6. The micro-plot is the 20 x 20 m section along north central edge of each replication of T7 plots. I am sure I used the Glencoe chisel plow from the Dairy (this was the only chisel plow around KBS in the spring of 2001). I would have used the FSC JD 7600 tractor or the JD 7810 tractor from the Dairy.

2001-08-21 Harvest Mowed all replications of treatment 6, reps: 1, 2, 4, 6, 3, and 5. The alfalfa was to small to harvest but I did not want the weeds to goto weed seeds and the alfalfa was blooming. I think we chopped third cutting T6 alfalfa back onto the plots. i.e. look at ag-log for August 24, 2001 we chopped the lysimeter field alfalfa back onto the rain because of the rain on 8/22/01 so I am sure that we chopped T6 plots back onto the ground. Not sure who raked the alfalfa in the lysimeter field. Because of 2.25 inches of rain we recieved on 8/22/01 we chopped the alfalfa back onto the ground. Mick chopped the alfalfa back on the ground.

2001-09-07 Soil Preparation Chisel plowed the alleyways in the Biodiversity study. Chisel plowed so that we could plant grass in the alleyways. I used the chisel plow from the Dairy farm (at the time the Dairy's chisel plow was the only chisel plow at KBS). Not sure which tractor I used. Most likely the JD 7810 from the Dairy farm.

2001-10-01 Soil Preparation Chisel plowed the alleyways in the Biodiversity study. Chisel plowed so that we could plant grass in the alleyways. I used the chisel plow from the Dairy farm (at the time the Dairy's chisel plow was the only chisel plow at KBS). Not sure which tractor I used. Most likely the JD 7810 from the Dairy farm. 2001-10-29 Mowing Mowed all replications of treatment 8, main site. Mowed all replications of treatments 1 and 2 of the biodiversity study. Most likely used the JD 6400 tractor and JD bush-hog mower.

2001-10-30 Soil Preparation Chisel plowed and field cultivated treatment B1 in the biodiversity study.

2001-10-30 Soil Preparation Because of perennial weeds (curlydock and dandelion) all replications of treatment B16 in the biodiversity study were chisel plowed, field cultivated, and planted with annual rye. Most likely used the JD 750 no-till drill.

2001-11-20 Mowing Mowed corn stalks all replication of biodiversity, nitrogen rate, europen corn borer, and 2,4-D studies. Mowed the alfalfa in the lysimeter field. We did not plan to harvest this cutting we were just trying to have better growth for the 2002 spring.

2001-05-09 Planting Planted corn in the Biodiversity, Nitrogen Rate, European Corn Borer, and 2,4-D studies.

2001-05-10 Planting Drilled soybeans in the Biodiversity Study.

2004-06-30 Fertilizer Application Applied nitrogen to both N-rate studies. Applied ammonium-nitrate to the corn in the studies. Row cultivated (twice) after the application of the ammonium-nitrate was applied. The reason we cultivated twice was to make sure we incorporated all the fertilizer into the soil. The second time we cultivated we went in the opposite direction of the first cultivation.

2000-05-22 Soil Preparation Field cultivated the Nitrogen Rate Study, replications 1,2, & 3 only. It started to rain before we could complete rep 4. Not sure what equipment was used. Not sure if we used the 12' Glencoe Field cultivator or the 15' soil finisher that belongs to the KBS Dairy. Depending on which field equipment we used would have made a difference in what tractor was used. Because the notes stated that the plots were field cultivated it makes me think that the 12' Glencoe Field cultivator was used.

August 25, 2004 raked alfalfa in five of the six reps of T6 plots, reps: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. We did not rake rep 6 because we wanted to see what things looked like if we did nt rake things and recieved rain. The alfalfa in T6 plots was to wet to bale this afternoon and we were expecting rain tonight so we wanted to see if keeping the alfalfa all spread out (tedded) helps/or not to dry faster after a rain. August 27, 2004 raked alfalfa in all reps of T6 plots. August 31, 2004 Bob A. raked alfalfa in all reps of T6 plots. August 31, 2004 because of the rain we received this past week the alfalfa was no good so Mick chopped all the alfalfa back onto the T6 plots.

2019-11-04 Harvest Harvested corn and soybeans in the lysimeter field today. The area south of T2R6 was split in half between corn and soybeans this area was split in half so we would have an area to test rainout shelter during the summer of 2019. Corn yield: 6040 lbs at 19.25% Soybean yield: 2800 lbs at 14%.

2023-05-17 Planting Plant open pollinated corn variety trial on the south portion of the field, population 24k. Brook Drove the tractor and Josh dumped seed packets into the planter. Patrick planted the corn population trial on the north portion of the field with an Almaco four row planter and New Holland tractor, populations 16k, 22k, 28k, 34k. A malfunction prevented Patric from planting P17R7 and this was filled in by Josh with the Monosem planter.
