Weather conditions at 1:00 p.m.: 75 degrees F, 55% relative humidity, winds were calm with 10 minute average wind speed of 1.0 mph out of the east. Fertilizer was applied by the Climax Farm Bureau using a Hagie Highboy sprayer.

2012-04-25 Fertilizer Application Fertilization and herbicide application was made to the GLBRC switchgrass scale up fields, L2 and M3, at both the Lux Arbor and Marshall Farm locations. Fields were fertilized with 28-0-0 liquid urea-ammonium nitrate. 17 gallons/A was applied. Since 28% fertilizer weighs 10.65 lbs/gallon, this worked out to 50.789 lbs N/A. Agrotain Ultra was applied at 1.5 qt per ton of fertilizer applied. Agrotain Ultra is a nitrogen stabilizer to prevent denitrification and leaching. 2,4-D ester was applied to control broadleaf weeds growing in the switchgrass fields, mostly dandelion at Lux Arbor and (to many to list) broadleafs at Marshall Farm. Weather conditions at 1:20 p.m.: 60 degrees F, wind was 5-7 mph out of the west. Fertilizer was applied by the Climax Farm Bureau using a Hagie Highboy sprayer.

2018-06-08 Mechanical Weed Control Hand applied(fuzzy gloves and pail) 10% solution of Glyphosate to leaves of milkweed. (milkweed plants 18-24" tall) With hand spot sprayer, sprayed 5% solution 2, 4-D ester to Canada thistle, dock and any other broadleaf weed. With hand spot sprayer, sprayed 1oz/gal + crop oil on annual grasses that are growing in thin areas.

2018-08-22 Harvest August 22, 2018: Harvested (mowed/windrowed) cover crop (sorghum / sudangrass) in G3 and G4 today. Also harvested the GLBRC bait crop area today: the area behind the Tappen House (brown house), the middle 30' of the bait crop area on the east and south sides, and the north 30' of the area on the north side. The north half of the front plots along 40th st. (next to the Bergner House), and 3 plots in rep 6 area (the 4, 5, and 6 plots from the west end of reps 6 area). Equipment used: John Deere 3430 mower/conditioner. August 23, 2018: Round baled and plastic wrapped sorghum sudan cover crop in G3, G4, Bait Crop, 3 plots in Rep 6 and 40th St. Plots in GLBRC. August 24, 2018: Picked-up bales from the field.
