5-24-2006 Sprayed the 2,4-D (GT) study, the lysimeter field, treatment 8 cropped area, and No-till Nitrogen Rate Studies (both the irrigated and non-irrigated studies). 2, 4-D LV4 (2,4-D Ester) was applied at 1 pt/A (1.2 L/ha), Roundup original Max (glyphosate) was applied at 22 oz/A (1.6 L/ha), and AMS (ammonium sulfate) was applied at 17 lbs/100 gals of water. A total of 1 gals (3.79 L) of 2,4-D was used, and a total of 3 gals (11.37 L) of Roundup was applied. A total of 51 lbs. of AMS was used in 300 gals of water. I sprayed half of the tank with just Roundup in the tank. After I sprayed off half of the tank I added 1 gal. 2,4-D and finished spraying the rest of the tank. The areas that were sprayed with Roundup only were: the 2,4-D study area, and the middle part of the lysimeter field. After adding the 1 gal of 2,4-D I sprayed: 1. Treatment 8 (cropped area), 2. The last three passes on the east side of T2R6, I ran out of material when I was spraying treatment 2 this morning so I finished the plot when I filled up with this tank. When I started spraying T2R6 I sprayed all the way around the plot (one pass on each side) so the last three passes is really in 30 feet from the east side of the plot and than three-four passes. 3. No-till Nitrogen Rate Study (both irrigated and non-irrigated studies), and 4. The east half of the north end of the lysimeter field and three-four passes along the east side of the lysimeter field. Weather Conditions: at 1:00 p.m. Sunny with air temperature 73 degrees F. Relative Humidity was 29%. Wind was out of the south-southwest at 0-12 mph's averaging 8 mph's. Weather Conditions: at 3:30 p.m. Sunny with air temperature 75 degrees F. Relative Humidity was 37%. Wind was out of the south-southwest at 0-12 mph's averaging 10 mph's. Time of application was between 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Equipment Used: JD 5220 tractor traveling 4.0-5.0 mph (gear C1, 1300-1600 rpm) with a pull type Top Air Sprayer equipped with a hydraulic centrifugal sprayer pump and a Raven 440 automatic carrier control unit. Turbo TeeJet 11003 nozzles were used, spaced 15 inches apart with a total boom length of 30 feet. 20-30 psi was used. Water applied at 20 gals/A, (187L/ha), was used as the carrier. Purpose of Application: Burndown for no-till soybeans Control of annual broadleaves weeds, grass weeds, and perennial weeds. Sprayed preplant.
