Irrigated corn in the LTER Irrigated Resource Gradient Experiment (Irrigated N-rate Study). Equipment used: Irrigated with the Valley 8000 Linear Irrigation System. Amount of water applied: 0.925 inch of water was applied (as measured by five rain gauges, the sixth gauge was cracked so water was leaking out of the gauge so the measurement for the gauge was not correct). Irrigation system delay setting: 20; Irrigation pressure: 20 psi; Pressure at the pump: 50 psi. Time of application was between 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Weather conditions at 9:25 a.m. Mostly Sunny , 67.2 degrees F, wind 4-12 mph (3m high 5 minute average wind speed was 7.0 mph) wind gust 11.92 mph, from the Northeast, relative humidity 82.4%. Weather conditions at 11:40 a.m. Sunny, 73.0 degrees F, wind 2-13 mph (3m high 5 minute average wind speed was 3.99 mph), wind gust 12.45 mph, from the North, relative humidity 63.0%. Meter reading at the start of irrigation event: 5344562.4; Meter reading at the end of irrigation event: 5390603.7; There was a malfunction with flow meter and it did not provide a reading. Total gallon of water used in this irrigation event (as measure by a in-line water meter): A minimum amount of 46,041.3 gallons of water was applied at time of irrigation.; Think that we have an air pocket in the flow meter which causes the flow meter to work intermittently. The 46,041 gallons was the minimum amount of water applied during this irrigation event. The flow meter was working most of the time during this irrigation event but it was working intermittently so more gallons of water would have been applied during this irrigation event. Average 410 gallons per minute (as measure by a in-line water meter).
