Comment:
Irrigated corn in the LTER Irrigated Resource Gradient Experiment (Irrigated N-rate Study). Equipment used: Irrigated with the Valley 8000 Linear Irrigation System. Amount of water applied: 0.604 inch of water was applied (as measured by six rain gauges). Irrigation system delay setting: 32.5; Irrigation pressure: 22 psi; Pressure at the pump: 50 psi. Time of application was between 2:45 p.m. - 4:20 p.m. Took longer today because it was the first irrigation event of the year so it took about 30 minutes to fill at the underground pipe with water before we had enough pressure to irrigate. Weather conditions at 2:40 p.m. mostly sunny, 70.7 degrees F, wind 0-10 mph (3m high 5 minute average wind speed was 7.67 mph) wind gust 14.6 mph, from the Northeast, relative humidity 22.3%. Weather conditions at 4:15 p.m. mostly sunny, 72.7 degrees F, wind 0-10 mph (3m high 5 minute average wind speed was 6.78 mph), wind gust 15.3 mph, from the Northeast, relative humidity 20.1%. Meter reading at the start of irrigation event: 4851651.0; Meter reading at the end of irrigation event: 4900870.9; Total gallon of water used in this irrigation event (as measure by a in-line water meter): 49,220 gallons of water was applied at time of irrigation. Average of ? gallons per minute (as measure by a in-line water meter).
