Irrigated soybeans in the LTER Irrigated Resource Gradient Experiment (Irrigated N-rate Study). Equipment used: Valley 8000 Linear Irrigation System. Amount of water applied: 0.975 inch of water was applied (as measured by six rain gauges). Irrigation system delay setting: 22; Irrigation pressure: 23 psi; Pressure at the pump: 50 psi. Time of application was between 2:15 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Weather conditions at the start (weather update at 2:00 p.m.): sunny, 73.7 degrees F, wind 1-11 mph (3m high 5 minute average wind speed was 1.73 mph) from the north, relative humidity 45.9%. Weather conditions at the end (weather update at 4:25 p.m.): sunny, 75.3 degrees F, wind 2-11 mph (3m high 5 minute average wind speed was 1.99 mph) from the northeast, relative humidity 37.3%. Total gallon of water used in this irrigation event (as measure by a in-line water meter): 45,920.6 gallons.
