Irrigated soybeans in the LTER Irrigated Resource Gradient Experiment (Irrigated N-rate Study). Equipment used: Valley 8000 Linear Irrigation System. Amount of water applied: 1.029 inch of water was applied (as measured by six rain gauges). Irrigation system delay setting: 20; Irrigation pressure: 23 psi; Pressure at the pump: 50 psi. Time of application was between 10:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Weather conditions at the start (weather update at 10:00 a.m.): mostly sunny, 72.7 degrees F, wind 0-10 mph (3m high 5 minute average wind speed was 2.89 mph) from the west, relative humidity 79.9%. Weather conditions at the end (weather update at 12:00 p.m.): mostly sunny, 77.6 degrees F, wind 0-12 mph (3m high 5 minute average wind speed was 4.91 mph) from the west, relative humidity 70.3%. Total gallon of water used in this irrigation event (as measure by a in-line water meter): 53,604.7 gallons.
