Irrigated soybeans in the LTER Irrigated Resource Gradient Experiment (Irrigated N-rate Study). Equipment used: Valley 8000 Linear Irrigation System. Amount of water applied: 0.66 inch of water was applied (as measured by six rain gauges). Irrigation system delay setting: 32; Irrigation pressure: 23 psi; Pressure at the pump: 50 psi. Time of application was between 10:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. Weather conditions at the start (weather update at 9:40 a.m.): mostly sunny, 65.2 degrees F, wind 1-6 mph (3m high 5 minute average wind speed was 3.47 mph) from the east, relative humidity 88.3%. Weather conditions at the end (weather update at 11:40 a.m.): mostly sunny, 70.5 degrees F, wind 2-9 mph (3m high 5 minute average wind speed was 7.0 mph) from the east, relative humidity 65.0%. Total gallon of water used in this irrigation event (as measure by a in-line water meter): 34,055.1 gallons.
