Comment:
Seeded Medium Red Clover into corn plots in LTER Biodiversity Study treatments B3:(111, 203, 306, 403), B6:(107, 207, 317, 406), B15:(112, 213, 301, 415). Seeded red Clover at 12 lbs/A. Clover seed had a coating that was 34% of the seed weight. A pure live seed calculation was done to calculate amount of seed per acre needed to achieve the 12 lbs/A of pure live seed. The calculation equaled 20 lbs/A seeding rate to achieve the 12 lbs/A of pure seed. Clover was seeded with John Deere 5220 tractor traveling at 5.0 mph, gear C1 at 1600 rpm’s, and Gandy Air Seeder (15 ft boom length) equipped with 8 deflectors spaced 22.5 inches. Gandy motor setting was 1.8 with the red metering wheels in and the gates on the Gandy were in the first position. Clover was applied directly over standing corn.
