Comment:
July 18, 2017 Jerry Stewart from Native Connections planted switchgrass seed in the four lysimeter areas of the Interaction plots. Jerry hand planted the switchgrass seed by scratching the soil surface area with a rake. Total amount of seed used was about 1 lb total divided among the four lysimeter frames. Each lysimeter frame is 4 ft x 7.5 ft (30 sq ft) (30 sq ft x 4 lysimeter frames = 120 sq ft total area). Amount of seed applied to the lysimeter frames based on lbs of seed/acre: 120 sq ft / 43560 sq ft per acre = 0.0027548 acre. So 1 lbs of seed was applied to 0.0027548 acre area so 1 acre / 0.00027548 seeded acre = 363 lbs of seed/acre.
