Chisel Plowed the LTER Treatment 3, all reps, reps: 5, 4, 2, and 3 were chisel plowed on October 5, 2015 by Lauren Mezo. Reps 1 and 6 were chisel plowed on October 6, 2015 by Ryan Anthony and Justin Mezo. Field conditions allowed chisel plowing because the soil was dry enough to chisel plow. Some years we only soil finish after soybean harvest and plant wheat however this year we had time and field conditions allowed for the chisel plowing after soybean harvest before planting wheat. Chisel plowed with JD 7330 tractor and JD 714 chisel plow. Chisel plowed to a depth of 7-8 inches (17.8-20.3 cm). Plots were chisel plowed N-S across the field. Four additional ”headland” passes were plowed E-W on the north and south edges of each plot. Justin was training Ryan how to chisel plow the LTER plots.
