Comment:
Chisel Plowed the LTER Treatment 1, all reps, (reps: 5, 1, 4, 2, and 3). Replication 6 was not chisel plowed. Rep 6 was soil finished twice on October 2, 2015 with the JD 7520 tractor and JD 726 soil finisher. Replication 3 was soil finished once on October 2, 2015 with the JD 7520 tractor and JD 726 soil finisher. After soil finishing rep 3 we decided to chisel plot the remaining replications of treatment 1. We decided to chisel plow the remaining replication because the T1 plots had so much soybean stover remaining in the plots. Also field conditions allowed chisel plowing because the soil was dry enough to chisel plow. Chisel plowed with JD 7330 tractor and JD 714 chisel plow. Chisel plowed to a depth of 7-8 inches (17.8-20.3 cm). Plots were chisel plowed N-S across the field. Four additional ”headland” passes were plowed E-W on the north and south edges of each plot. Justin was training Lauren how to chisel plow the LTER plots.
