Because of clumpy soil conditions we used the cultimulcher in the LTER main site T4 plots, all replications. Replications: 6, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Only one pass in the plots with the cultimulcher. Equipment used: JD7420a tractor and the JD970 cultimulcher. All plots were cultimulched N-S over the plots with 1 headland pass going E-W on both north and south side of each plot. All plots were cultimulched with the teeth in the ground about 2-3 inches (just enough to remove the tractor tire tracks). Speed was ~ 5.5 - 6.5 mph depending on soil conditions. Cultimulching did a good job of removing soil clumps making a good seed bed for planting soybeans.
