Comment:
Because of clumpy soil conditions we used the cultimulcher in the LTER main site T3 plots, all replications. Replications: 5, 4, 2, and 3 were cultimulched on May 22, 2015. Replications 1, and 6 were cultimulched on May 23, 2015. Only one pass in the plots with the cultimulcher. Equipment used: JD7420a tractor and the JD970 cultimulcher. All plots were cultimulched N-S over the plots with 1 headland pass going E-W on both north and south side of each plot. All plots were cultimulched with the teeth in the ground about 2-3 inches (just enough to remove the tractor tire tracks). Speed was ~ 5.0 - 5.5 mph depending on soil conditions. Cultimulching did a good job of removing soil clumps making a good seed bed for planting soybeans.
