Comment:
Because of clumpy soil conditions we used the cultimulcher in the LTER main site T1 plots, all replications (5, 1, 3, 2, 4, and 6). Only one pass in the plots with the cultimulcher. Equipment used: JD7420a tractor and the JD970 cultimulcher. All plots were cultimulched N-S over the plots with 1 headland pass going E-W on both north and south side of each plot. All plots were cultimulched with the teeth in the ground about 2-3 inches. Speed was ~ 5.0 mph depending on soil conditions. Cultimulching did a good job of removing soil clumps making a good seed bed for planting soybeans. Joe Simmons cultimulched reps: 5, 1, and 3. Josh Dykstra cultimulched reps: 2, 4, and6.
