Comment:
Fertilized the LTER Main Site treatment N-rate Study (Nitrogen Fertility Gradient/Irrigation Experiment), all treatments and replicates with potash. A total of 210 pounds/A of 0-0-62 potash was applied which supplied 130 lbs/A of K2O. Applied in a single application of using the John Deere 7420a tractor traveling 4.3 mph (range B3, 1350 rpm) and a Gandy Orbit-Air fertilizer applicator controlled by a Raven 6000 which monitored the application and automatically adjusted the metering rate for changes in ground speed. For the Gandy/Raven set-up, the following were used: Density 70 lbs/cu ft; metering wheel 1 1/4” diameter (yellow); deflector spacing 22”; meter cal number 199; air pressure was 13-14 p.s.i.; Boom length 30 ft, nozzles 16-24 inches above the ground level. Weather conditions: cloudy, temperatures 60 degrees F.
