Comment:
Sprayed LTER main site treatment T5 poplars replications 1 and 2 only with ”Liquid Fence(R) Deer & Rabbit Repellent” (The Liquid Fence Company, Brodheadsville, PA) for deer repellency effect. Noticable damage had been observed on several trees due to deer rubbing which resulted in breaking and striping bark from lead shoots. Liquid Fence was applied at a rate of 8 oz concentrate per gallon of H2O carrier. Spray was applied with backpack sprayers; each backpack sprayer had a capacity of 4 gallons. Each tree was individually sprayed with spray focused on the stem and leaves from approximately 1' to 5' height. Trees with noticable rub damage had stem completely bathed with Liquid Fence. A total of 128 ozs of concentrate in a total of 16 gallons of H2O carrier was used per each 2.47 acre (1 ha.) plot.
