2003-09-19 Mechanical Weed Control Mowed the wheat stubble/weeds in treatments B11 and B20 in the biodiveristy study. Wheat was harvested from these plots in July and these treatments did not have any crover crop growing so to prevent the weeds from producing seeds the plots were mowed.

2003-10-31 Mechanical Weed Control Mowed all replications of treatment 8.

2002-04-23 Mowing Wheat stubble from the 2001 crop was mowed on the main site treatment 2 all reps. Not sure what equipment was used. I would guess the JD 6400 or JD 7400 tractor was used and JD 10' bush-hog type mower or the JD 115 flail mower was used. Not sure when we bought the flail mower to use on the LTER? Each plot was taking about 35 - 40minutes to mow.

2002-07-23 Mechanical Weed Control Mowed the area were the 2,4-D plots are. This year no annual crop was planted within this study area. The weeds were mowed to prevent them from producing seed.

2001-08-27 Mowing Mowed all replications of treatments 3 and 4, main site. I was mowing the weeds so that no weeds seeds would be produced. I was mowing at the top of the clover.

2001-11-20 Mowing Mowed corn stalks all replication of biodiversity, nitrogen rate, europen corn borer, and 2,4-D studies. Mowed the alfalfa in the lysimeter field. We did not plan to harvest this cutting we were just trying to have better growth for the 2002 spring.

1999-12-01 Mechanical Weed Control Mowed all reps [T8, R1-4]

1997-12-02 Mechanical Weed Control Mowed entire plot in late fall. (Made sure gas sample stations were removed prior to mowing). [T8]

1996-12-05 Mechanical Weed Control Mowed entire area, all four replicates [T8]

1995-11-30 Mechanical Weed Control Mowed entire plot. [T8]

1991-05-21 Mechanical Weed Control Mowed cover crops [T3, T4]

1990-06-11 Mechanical Weed Control Large mower was used to clip the alfalfa down to about 4 inches tall in an attempt to control weeds. Weeds were prevented from going to seed. [T6]

2001-10-29 Mowing Mowed all replications of treatment 8, main site. Mowed all replications of treatments 1 and 2 of the biodiversity study. Most likely used the JD 6400 tractor and JD bush-hog mower.

2002-06-12 Harvest Mowed (cut) the alfalfa on all replication of treatment 6 on the main site.

2002-07-09 Harvest Mowed (cut) second cutting of alfalfa on the main site treatment 6 all replications (6, 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5).

2002-08-26 Harvest Mowed (cut) the third cutting of the alfalfa on the main site treatment 6 all replications.

2002-11-08 Harvest Bob Adams mowed the corn stalks in the N-rate #1 and N-rate #2 studies. Bob also mowed all the corn stalks and the spring (B2) and fall (B1) fallow plots in the biodiversity study. I chisel plowed and soil finished treatment B1 (fall fallow) in the biodiversity study. I mowed the corn stalks in the ECB study. When mowing the corn stalks in the ECB study I mowed each plot so that the litter/residue would remain within each individual plot boundary.

1998-12-01 Mechanical Weed Control Mowed all reps [T8, R1-4]

2002-06-18 Harvest Mowed (cut) the alfalfa in the lysimeter field.

2002-07-12 Harvest Mowed (cut) the second cutting of the alfalfa in the lysimeter field within the main site area.

2002-07-12 Harvest Mowed (cut) the second cutting of the alfalfa in the lysimeter field within the main site area.

2002-07-27 Harvest Mowed (cut) the alfalfa in the lysimeter field this morning. Chopped the alfalfa for silage in the lysimeter field this evening.

1989-06-05 Harvest {{PL: Mowed the alfalfa in the lysimeter area today. This hay will be baled.}}

1989-06-06 Harvest {{PL: Raked the hay in the lysimeter area today. We also mowed the hay areound Tiedje's 2,4-D plot and the area near where the linear is sitting on the North end of the Ancillary field.}}

1996-09-03 Harvest {{PL: Someone hit the right rear quarter panel of my pickup box on the LTER pickup over the long weekend. Mowed the Wheat plots in the LTER Rotation Entry Point Study.}}

1988-09-13 Harvest {{PL: Collected yield samples on Rotation Study alfalfa today…The rest of each plot was then mowed for baling. }}

1988-07-26 Harvest {{PL: After collecting yield samples of the alfalfa plots on the Ancillary site (9.5 feet x 15 feet long) using the Learning Center’s haybine to cut the samples, we mowed the rest of the hay on those plots. }}

1988-06-07 Harvest {{PL: Mowed the rest of alfalfa in the Rotation study. It will be baled by the Farm Learning Center crew when it dries. }}

2002-08-29 Harvest Mowed the wheat stuble plots in the biodiversity study. The wheat stuble was mowed to prevent weeds from producing seeds. If the plots had a cover crop growing (clover that was frost seeded) the mower was set to cut just the weeds that were growing above the cover crop. On average I would say that 1-2 inches of the clover was cut off during the mowing

2003-05-21 Soil Preparation Mowed trt's B3 and B6 in the biodiversity study. The clover had a average hieght of 16 inches with a range from 14-20 inches. I thought that the clover was so tall that mowing before chisel plowing would help turn under the clover.

2001-07-12 Mowing Mowed the micro-plots in all replications of treatment 2, main site study. I only mowed the first 10 meters of the micro-plots.

2001-09-07 Mowing Mowed all the micro-plots in all replications of treatments 1 and 2 of the main site study. Most likely used the JD 6400 tractor and bush-hog mower.

2001-09-07 Mowing Mowed all the micro-plots in all replications of treatments 1 and 2 of the main site study. Most likely used the JD 6400 tractor and bush-hog mower.

2001-11-20 Mowing Mowed the alfalfa in the lysimeter field today. We did not collect data from this harvest we just mowed the area to have better growth on the alfalfa in the spring of 2002.

2018-09-12 Mowing Mowed the weeds in T6 plots. Mowed with the JD 5320 tractor and 14' Landpride mower. Doug Stedge mowed reps 6 and 5 on Wednesday September 12, 2018. Charlie Austin mowed reps 1, 2, 3, and half of rep 4 on Thursday September 12, 2018.
