Description:
Commercial/Custom Truck for Transporting Grain from KBS to a Grain Elevator or Grain Purchasing Company.
KBS will hire a trucking company to transport grain that KBS is selling on the open grain market from KBS to the grain purchasing company.
Trucks may have a single hopper bottom or a train of trailers that include a front lead trailer and a 'pup' second trailer pulled behind the front trailer.
A single hopper bottom trailer normally holds 900-1000 bushels of grain.
A double train trailer will normally hold ~ 1800 bushels of grain.
2026-10-19 Harvest Harvested corn in LTER T2 main plots reps 1, 4, 3, 2, 5, and 6. All plots were weighed and sampled for moisture separately by replication. This was the first harvest using the E-Z Trail 550 bushel grain cart. Flow of grain at harvest: from the combine to the grain cart, grain cart to grain truck, no augers used/needed. We did not use the Brent weigh wagon on the T2 plots in 2026. Equipment used: JD S660 combine with 706C Corn Head (6 row corn head).
2026-10-20 Harvest Harvested corn in LTER T1 main plots reps 1, 5, 4, 2, 3, and 6. All plots were weighed and sampled for moisture separately by replication. This was the first harvest using the E-Z Trail 550 bushel grain cart. Because we were not confident with the calibration of the E-Z Trail grain cart we decided to weight the plots weights with the Brent weigh wagon. Flow of grain at harvest: from the combine to the weigh wagon, weigh wagon to the grain cart, grain cart to grain truck, no augers used/needed.
