2024-05-24 Fertilizer Application T6 (1, 2, 4, 3, 5, 6) plots and CE study switchgrass plots CE4 and CE6 (110, 203, 302, 404, 111, 204, 310, 406) were fertilized with 28% U.A.N. nitrogen fertilizer at 17 Gallons per Acre, applying 50 lb N per Acre. Bromegrass and unfertilized mircoplots in Northwest corner of T6 plots were avoided. Application began 1:00 pm and concluded at 4:00 pm. 2024-06-20 Herbicide Application Sprayed Roundup in GLBRC G1 (reps 1, 4, 2, 3, and 5) and G3 plots (reps 2, 1, 3, 5, and 4), and bait crop, Brown house field. G1 plots were sprayed with Roundup PowerMax 3 at 22 oz/A. For the remainder the tank was spiked to reach a 30 oz/A rate. Spraying ended at 4:15 pm on 6/20/24. 2024-06-21 Herbicide Application Sprayed LTER T2 plots (reps 5, 6, 2, 4, 3, and 1) with tank mix of Enlist One and Roundup PowerMax 3. Enlist One was sprayed at 2 pints/ A and Roundup PowerMax 3 was sprayed at 21.3 oz/A. Re-entry interval for Enlist One is 48 hours. Safe Re-entry on Sunday June 23, 2024 at 12:45 PM.

2024-06-24 Herbicide Application Sprayed LTER T1 plots with Round Up Power max 3. The 38 Ounce higher rate was because the weeds were taller. The REI is 4 hours so plots can be entered at 7:30 p.m.

2024-06-24 Herbicide Application Sprayed LTER T3 plots (6, 3, 1, 2, 4, and 5) with Round Up Power max 3. Rate was 30 oz/A in post emergence soybeans. The REI is 4 hours Safe for re-entry at 10:00 pm

2024-08-13 Herbicide Application Sprayed tank mix of RoundUp Power Max 3 at 38.4 oz/A and Liberty at 35.5 oz/A on Lysimeter field, CE1, CE2, CE3 plots, and GLBRC Rep 6 #6 plot. Sprayed T8nt with RoundUp Power Max 3 only. REI for Liberty is 12 hrs. Safe re-entry on Tuesday August 13 at 3:00 am.

2025-03-27 Herbicide Application Sprayed Winter Wheat in LTER N-Rate study and T8nt plots (all reps) with Perfectmatch. This product has a 24 hour REI. Application lasted from 2:00 pm to 3:45 pm on Thursday, March 27. Safe Reentry at 3:45 pm on Friday, March 28. Perfectmatch was chosen for control of grasses in the winter wheat and enhanced control of broad leafs. See attached spray report for weather conditions and spray mix formulation.

2025-04-17 Herbicide Application Sprayed LTER T2 reps (5, 3, 2, 4, 1, & 6) and T1 reps (3, 2, 4, 1, 5 & 6) with tank mix of Huskie and Power Flex HL. Huskie applied at 13.5 fl oz/A and Power Flex HL at 2 oz/A. Application was done in marginal wind conditions. Coral-Poly a drift reduction agent was used to increase droplet size. Also all plots have a 30' buffer of grass alleyway around all four sides. Nozzles used were TTI03, for a coarse droplet. Excess spray put on N-Rate South alleyway. Application was done with 45' boom Fast sprayer but sprayed at 30' to follow wheel tracks previously made during dry fertilizer applications. REI on products is 24 hours, application concluded at 6:00 pm on 4/17/25. Safe reentry at 6:00 pm 4/18/25. Application occurred from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm Weather Conditions @ 11:00 am: Temperature: 52.6°F Wind Speed: 9.17 MPH Wind Direction: Southeast RH: 44.1% Weather Conditions @ 6:00 pm: Temperature: 61.4°F Wind Speed: 13.36 MPH Wind Direction: South RH: 30.9%

2025-04-28 Fertilizer Application Fertilized LTER Main Site Winter Wheat plots T1 and T2 (all reps) with 28% Nitrogen liquid fertilizer. Order of application: T2R6, T1R6, T2R5, T1R5, T2R3, T2R2, T1T1, T2R4, T1R4, T1R2, T2R1, T1R3. Application rate was 18 gallons/A, providing approx. 54 lbs of Nitrogen. Application began at 9:45 am and concluded at 3:00 pm. Weather at 9:45 am; Temperature: 59.7°F Wind Speed: 9.28 mph Wind Direction: South RH: 42.6% Weather at 3:00 pm; Temperature: 73.9°F Wind Speed: 12.27 mph Wind Direction: South RH: 26.6% Marginal wind conditions are generally not a concern when applying fertilizers, as any drift that could occur would be minimal and non damaging. Additionally the Chafer Stream Bars are not susceptible to drifting conditions.

2025-04-30 Fertilizer Application Fertilized LTER Resource Gradient (N-Rate) Study, Irrigated and Rainfed winter wheat plots as well as the T8nt winter wheat plots with 28%. Fertilizer applications were with 28-0-0 which supplied 28% nitrogen in the form of Urea-Ammonium Nitrate (UAN). T8nt plots fertilized at 18 gallons/A to match the T1 and T2 treatments, providing 54 lbs of nitrogen. N-Rate treatments F1, F2 had no additional nitrogen applied. Treatment F1 is the no nitrogen treatment and treatment F2 already had the nitrogen applied via an ammonium sulfate application earlier in the spring. The previous application provided 20 lbs of nitrogen and this application provides the rest. Application was done with JD 7420b tractor and Fast 3 point sprayer with 45' boom. The boom was folded to 30' and only a 15' section was used for the application. Nozzles used were Chafer stream bars and Teejet 015 green SJ3 fertilizer nozzles. The Teejet nozzles were used for the F3 and F4 treatments. The Chafer stream bars were used on orifice setting #1 except for F9 which had to be increased to setting #2. 2025-05-29 Herbicide Application Sprayed GLBRC G1, G2, G3 (all reps), and Sorghum N-Rate South, and LTER Lysimeter field with Interline (generic liberty) at 40 fl oz/A. REI is 12 hours, spraying concluded at 5:15 pm on 5/29/25. Safe re-entry on 5/30/25 at 5:15am. Interline was applied to control glyphosate resistant marestail. Application was done post plant on sorghum (G3 and Sorghum N-Rate South) and done post emergence on corn (G1 and lysimeter field), also done pre-plant on soybeans (G2). 2025-05-30 Herbicide Application Spray herbicide on G3 Sorghum plots (reps 4, 1, 2, 3, 5) and GLBRC Sorghum N-Rate South. And LTER lysimeter field, (only where corn is planted) and GLBRC G1 Corn Tank mix of Roundup PowerMax 3 at 30 oz/A, Dual II Magnum at 1.33 pt/A and Atrazine 4L at 1 qt/A applied to sorghum per-emergence. Tank mix of Roundup PowerMax 3 at 30 oz/A, Dual II Magnum at 1.33 pt/A and Acuron at 3 qt/A applied post-emergence to corn. This was done in two separate mixes, no acuron was applied to sorghum. 2025-06-02 Fungicide Application Sprayed LTER N-Rate Winter Wheat with Miravis Ace fungicide at 13.7 fl oz/A. Fungicide applied to control leaf septoria. Application began at 11:30 am and concluded at 12:25 pm. REI of product is 12 hours, safe reentry at 12:25 am Tuesday 6/3/25.

2025-06-02 Fungicide Application Sprayed LTER T1 (reps 3, 2, 4, 6, 1, & 5) and T2 (reps 6, 5, 2, 3, 4, & 1) with Prosaro Pro fungicide at 13.6 fl oz/A. REI on product is 12 hours. Safe Reentry on Tuesday June 3rd at 7:20 am. Spraying began at 2:15pm and concluded at 7:20pm. For weather data see attached.

2025-06-04 Fertilizer Application Applied 28% liquid nitrogen fertilizer to LTER T6 plots (reps 1, 2, 4, 3, 5, and 6) at 16.7 gallons/A which provides 50 lbs/A nitrogen. For this year there was no -N micro plot, the entire plot area was fertilized, except the bromegrass microplot. Applied 28% liquid nitrogen fertilizer to GLBRC Switchgrass fertility study according to the following gradient. SWF1: 0 lbs N/A = 0 gal 28%/A SWF2: 25 lbs N/A = 8.4 gal 28%/A SWF3: 50 lbs N/A = 16.7 gal 28%/A SWF4: 75 lbs N/A = 25.3 gal 28%/A SWF5: 100 lbs N/A= 33.7 gal 28%/A SWF6: 125 lbs N/A = 42.1 gal 28%/A SWF7: 150 lbs N/A = 50.5 gal 28%/A SWF8: 175 lbs N/A = 58.9 gal 28%/A All applications done with Chafer stream bars, except for SWF2, which were done with Tee Jet 015 green SJ3 nozzles.

2025-06-24 Herbicide Application Sprayed LTER CE Study annual plots (CE1, CE2, & CE3), GLBRC Bait Crop and Brown House Field, and Sorghum N-Rate North. Sprayed Liberty Ultra at 28.4 floz/A, tank was spiked with Dual II Magnum to spray the Sorghum N-Rate North at 1.33 pt/A. Main target of application was marestail, many are glyphosate resistant. REI is 12 hours, spraying concluded at 11:50 am. Safe reentry on Tuesday June 24 at 11:50 pm. See attached for weather data.

2025-07-02 Herbicide Application Sprayed LTER Lysimeter Field, GLBRC G2 Soybeans, & G1 Corn (perimeter of plots) with Roundup PowerMax 3 at 30 oz/A. REI of Roundup PowerMax 3 is four hours. Spraying began at 2:45 pm and concluded at 4:05 pm. Safe reentry on Wednesday July 2nd at 8:05 pm.

2025-08-08 Herbicide Application Sprayed LTER N-Rate (Irrigated and rainfed) and LTER Lysimeter field with RoundUp PowerMax 3 at 40 oz/A. Application done post harvest as a general burndown. Application began at 12:00 pm and concluded at 1:30 pm. REI is 4 hours, safe reentry at 5:30 pm on Friday August 8, 2025. See attached spray report for weather data.

2025-08-13 Herbicide Application Sprayed LTER T3 plots (reps 4, 2, 1, 5, 3, and 6) and LTER T8nt plots with Roundup PowerMax 3 at 40 oz/A. The West Side of T3R6 was overlooked during the initial application and had to be sprayed later on 8/21. Additional spray report attached. Application done as burn-down after wheat harvest, some broad leaf weeds may have been too big for chemical control. Plots may need to be mowed later. Prairie strips in T3 plots were avoided. Application began at 12:45 pm and concluded at 3:05 pm. REI is 4 hours, safe reentry at 7:05 on Wednesday August 13, 2025. For weather conditions see attached.

2025-08-14 Herbicide Application Sprayed LTER T2 (reps 5, 2, 6, 1, 4, and 3) and T1 plots (reps 5, 1, 4 2, 3, and 6)with Roundup PowerMax 3 at 40 oz/A. Application done as burn-down after wheat harvest. Application began at 10:15 am and concluded at 4:00 pm. REI is 4 hours, safe reentry at 8:00 on Thursday August 14 2025. 2025-08-15 Herbicide Application Sprayed GLBRC G2 plot PERIMETERS (reps 3, 1, 2, 5, and 4), Bait Crop, and Brown House field with Roundup PowerMax 3 at 40 fl oz/A. Spraying began at 10:30 am and concluded at 12:30 pm. REI is four hours, safe reentry at 4:30 on Friday August 15 2025. G2 soybean plots sprayed as post emergence, only one boom section sprayed around the entire plot perimeter. For weather data see attached.

2025-10-13 Herbicide Application Sprayed LTER T2 (5, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 1), N-Rate Study, and T8nt (all reps) with tank mix of 2-4D (LO-VOL 6) and Round up PowerMax 3. REI for 2-4D is 12 hours. Safe Reentry at 5:00 AM on Tuesday October 14. See attached for weather data.

2025-10-14 Herbicide Application Sprayed LTER T1 (5,1,4,2,3 and 6) with tank mix of 2-4D (LO-VOL 6) and Round up PowerMax 3. REI for 2-4D is 12 hours. Safe Reentry at 3:45 AM on Wednesday October 15. See attached for weather data.

2025-10-24 Herbicide Application Sprayed GLBRC Switchgrass Biodiversity Experiment (formerly Interaction plots) with tank mix of 6L 2-4D at 1 qt/A and Roundup PowerMax 3 at 40 fl oz/A. REI of tank mix is 12 hours, spraying concluded at 12:15 pm on 10/24/25. Safe re-entry on Saturday October 25 at 12:15 AM. Due to the height of the boom anti-drift agent was used, standing switchgrass was approximately 3-5 feet tall. Also included was Non-Ionic Surfactant (NIS), to help spray solution adhere to plant leaves. Monolith lysimeters areas were sprayed over, but not driven through. The monolith lysimeters had plastic placed over them so as to not have the area within the lysimeter frames sprayed. The intact Mesocosm located in the 15 feet on the west edge of plots 6 and 8 were NOT sprayed. The entire 15 ft for the entire length of plots 6 & 8 were not sprayed. See attached for weather data.
