2003-05-27 Soil Preparation (first entry) Gala soil finished on the main site T1 reps 6, 3, 2, 4, 1, & 5. Working depth of the soil finisher was 5”. Todd soil finished T3 reps 1, 3, 2, 4, 5, & 6, rep 6 was soil finished twice. We used the JD 7810 from the dairy and the JD 16' soil finisher.

2003-05-28 Soil Preparation Gala soil finished on the main site T4 reps 6, 1, 4, 2, 3, & 5. We used the JD 7810 and JD soil finisher. The soil finisher had the loose soil removed from it before using it on any T4 plot.

2013-07-26 Harvest Baled straw from the LTER Lysimeter field. Straw from the wheat harvest was left to dry in the sun for 2 days then was round baled. Bales were removed and weighed to determine the amount of straw within that field. There was 14 bales picked up that totaled 7900 lbs.

2014-07-03 Harvest KBS Dairy chopped the the second cutting alfalfa on the LTER main site treatment 6, all reps. Larry Langshaw drove the tractor and chopper, Fred drove the truck to haul the alfalfa and Matt Pixley packed the bunker soil. Matt raked 4 windrows into one windrow before they chopped the plots.

2015-05-22 Harvest KBS Dairy chopped the the second cutting alfalfa on the LTER main site treatment 6, all reps: 1, 2, 4, 3, 5, and 6. Larry Langshaw drove the tractor (JD 6170M) and chopper. Gary drove the truck to haul the alfalfa from the field to the bunker silo. Matt Pixley packed the bunker soil. Brook Wilke took samples for percent moisture.

2017-11-28 Harvest Harvested Corn Stover in the GLBRC M1 and L3. Equipment used: JD 7420a tractor and Loftness 15' Draper Windrower Shredder (to windrow the corn stover). Weight of each round bale was recorded. Grab samples from each rep was placed in paper bags weighed for wet weight and placed in plant dryer and reweighed to determine percent moisture for each replication.

2019-12-06 Harvest Harvested Switchgrass at Marshall Farm. Switchgrass Field: Loads we recorded number of bales and weight (lbs): 1. 24 bales, gross wt 41,220, tare wt 19,340, net wt. 21,880 (lbs) 2. 29 bales, gross wt 45,740, tare wt 19,360, net wt. 26,380 (lbs) 3. 28 bales gross wt. 44,540 tare wt. 19,320, net wt. 25,220 (lbs). 4. 36 bales, gross wt 70,060, tare wt 36,840, net wt. 33,220 (lbs) 5. 46 bales, gross wt 77,920, tare wt 36,840, net wt. 41,080 (lbs) 6. 46 bales gross wt. 78,000 tare wt. 36,840, net wt. 41,160 (lbs). Field Totals: 209 bales 188,940 (lbs) 94.47 (tons).
