2006-10-10 Harvest 2006 soybean harvest took place between October 9-25, 2006. Because of rain during October of 2006 the east side of T4R6 was not harvested until October 25, 2006. Please see notes below for specific dates for individual harvest dates for specific plots. At harvest each plot was split into two distinct sides, the west side and the east side. For 2006 the west side of each plot contained a headland pass across the entire width of the plot and ~ 109-111 rows of soybeans for T1 and T2 plots, T3 and T4 plots had 60 rows located on the west side of each plot. The created headland was one pass across the headland with the JD grain head (15 feet wide). For 2006 the east side of each plot had ~ 109-111 rows of soybeans for T1 and T2 plots, T3 and T4 plots had 54 rows located on the east side of each plot. Soybeans harvested were NKS20-F8 for T1, T2, T3, and T4. Moisture and test weights were determined using a portable Dicky-john GAC500 XT grain analysis moisture tester. The reason that we need to create an artificial headland was because we needed more room to turn around the combine. Grain yield and moisture from treatments 1-4 across all six replications were recorded. However, the standard agronomic yields recorded on the web page, for the year 2006, were taken only from the east side of the plots. The decision to post the yield from only the east side of the plots stems from the fact that on the west side of the plot contains a micro plot area. In northwest corner of treatments 1 and 2 are the micro plots that did not receive any weed control, cultivation or herbicides. Because of the competition from the weed in the micro plots the decision was made to record the official yields from the east side of the plots. The micro plot area measures 50 ft (15 meters) from the north edge of the plots towards to south and 133.3 ft (40 meters) from the west edge of the plots towards the east. The micro plot area in treatments 1 and 2 that did not receive any weed control was mowed down before harvest. 2005-10-11 Harvest 2005 corn harvest took place between October 10-12, 2005. Please see notes below for specific dates for individual harvest dates for specific plots. At harvest each plot was split into two distinct sides, the west side and the east side. For 2005 the west side of each plot contained a headland pass across the entire width of the plot and 60 rows of corn located on the west side of each plot. The created headland was one pass across the headland with the JD 6 row corn head (15 feet wide). The reason that we need to create an artificial headland was because we needed more room to turn around the combine. Grain yield and moisture from treatments 1-4 across all six replications were recorded. However, the standard agronomic yields recorded on the web page, for the year 2005, were taken only from the east side of the plots. 2001-07-17 Harvest 2001 wheat harvest took place between July 13-19, 2001. Please notes below for specific dates for individual harvest dates for specific plots. At harvest each plot was split into two distinct sides, the west side and the east side. For 2001 no headland pass was harvested on the plots. Grain yield and moisture from treatments 1-4 across all six replications were recorded. However, the standard agronomic yields recorded on the web page, for the year 2001, were taken only from the east side of the plots. 2004-07-13 Harvest 2004 wheat harvest took place between July 12-15, 2004. Please see notes below for specific dates for individual harvest dates for specific plots. Straw was put in windrows behind the combine in T1 and T2 plots so that the straw could be baled and removed from the plots. Straw was chopped back onto the T3 and T4 plots. The chopper is part of the combine when you do not want to bale straw you engage the chopper to chop all the straw behind the combine. Wheat was combined off the plots using a John Deere 9410 combine. Weights were determined using a weigh wagon equipped with weigh cells. Moistures were determined using a Dicky-john grain analysis computer. For all plots, collected the weight of grain in the east and west sides of the plot, percent moisture, and test weight. At harvest each plot was split into two distinct sides, the west side and the east side. Grain yield and moisture from all treatments across all six replications were recorded. However, the standard agronomic yields recorded on the web page, for the year 2004, were taken only from the east side of the plots.
