2005-08-25 Harvest Mick baled the alfalfa from the main site treatment 6, all replications. Mick baled with the JD 2155 tractor and NH baler, square bales. Matt picked up the bales with the JD 6400 tractor and NH bale stacker. The moisture on the alfalfa was 14% in rep 6 and 15% in rep 1.

2004-07-09 Harvest Mowed T6 plots in the LTER. Look below for specific dates for harvest activities. July 8, 2004 mowed T6 reps: 2, 1, and 3; July 9, 2004 mowed T6 reps: 4, 5, and 6. Finished mowing the plots by 12:20 p.m. July 11, 2004 raked alfalfa in T6, all reps, reps: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. July 11, 2004 Jim tried to bale the alfalfa from T6 plots however the alfalfa was not dry enough to bale. July 12, 2004 tedded the alfalfa in T6 plots. Joe S. tedded the alfalfa in T6 reps 1 and 2. Gale Kellam tedded T6 reps: 3, 4, 5, and 6. Tedded alfalfa with the JD 5400 tractor and tedder. July 12, 2004 Scott K. raked all the alfalfa in the T6 plots. Scott raked with the Dairy's small loader tractor and double rakes. July 12, 2004 Jim B tried to bale but the alfalfa was to wet to keep baling. Jim baled with the JD 2155 tractor and NH baler. July 13, 2004 Matt P. raked T6 reps 6 and 5 with the Dairy's single rake. Jim B. raked T6 reps 3, 4, 2, and 1 with the JD 6400 tractor and double rakes. July13, 2004 Jim B. baled all reps of T6 with the NH small square baler. July 13, 2004 Matt P. picked up all the square bales.

2007-06-11 Harvest Raked and baled hay from T6 plots. Bob and Gale raked all reps of T6 plots. Bob raked T6 reps: 5 and 6 with the JD 5400 and single rake. Gale raked T6 reps: 1, 2, 3, and 4 with the JD 6420 and double rake. Mick square baled T6 reps: 5, 4, 2, and 1. Greg round baled T6 reps: 6 and 3. Matt picked up the bales not sure if was today or another day this week. Matt would have used the front loader on the tractor and hay wagons to move the round bales.

2016-10-10 Harvest Harvested Corn Stover in the GLBRC, treatments: G2 and G3, all replications. Harvested - Eastern 75 feet (30 rows) of each plot, except for G2R1 and G3R1 the western 75 feet (30 rows) were harvested. The remaining 15' (6 rows) area unharvested is the stover non-removal microplot, located on the western 15' of each plot, except for G2R1 and G3R1 where it is located on the eastern 15' of the plot. Stover weights were determined by placing the round bales of stover on a Rice Lake Rough Deck Floor Scale System (model # 67704)(5,000 lbs capacity) with a RWL 390 DC Indicator. Floor scale was placed on the back of the Dodge truck (with flat bed) (MSU #1653). Truck was driven to each plot and bales were placed on the scales with the JD 7420b tractor with front loader and bale spears. Bales were weighed and removed from the plots on October 11, 2016. Weight of each round bale was recorded. Grab samples from each rep was placed in paper bags weighed for wet weight and placed in plant dryer and reweighed to determine percent moisture for each replication. Estimated harvest time was from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. (this estimate is just harvest time it does not include equipment set up and equipment clean up time).

2017-09-08 Harvest Friday September 8, 2017 Justin Mezo cut the alfalfa in the LTER T6 plots. Equipment used: JD Monday September 11, 2017 the MSU KBS Dairy Farm staff raked and baled the T6 plots.

2019-03-27 Harvest Harvested Corn Stover in the GLBRC M1 and L1. Equipment used: JD 7420a tractor and Loftness 15' Draper Windrower Shredder (to windrow the corn stover). Stover was baled with round baler. Total weight of round bales was recorded. Grab samples was placed in paper bags and weighed for wet weight and placed in plant dryer and reweighed to determine percent moisture. 54 bales from Marshal farm, 49 from Lux Arbor.

2020-11-19 Harvest Ryan Anthony flail mowed corn stover in G1 main plots: Reps 5, 4, 1, 2, & 3. Corn stover was mowed into windrows so that they could be bailed. The 6 rows (15 ft) in the west micro-plots of each rep were not mowed. Equipment Used: JD 7420a tractor and Loftness 15 ft Draper Windrower Shredder. Howard Straub III (from the KBS Dairy Center) baled the corn stover on November 19, 2020. Equipment Used: JD 6175M tractor and NH 450 Cropcutter round baler. Equipment Used: JD 7420b tractor (with loader) was used to move/load bales. Equipment Used: Dodge truck and gooseneck trailer was used to move bales. Bales were taken to KBS Dairy Center to be used for bedding for the cows.
